Want | Jack Chore Coat by Imogene + Willie
as my buddy john would say..."beautimiss"
*Additional Information*
As a child, Matt was into everything. This rambunctious curiosity led
his grandmother to refer to him as a “jack of all trades, master of
none.” In honor of Matt, we call our version of this classic utility
jacket, “Jack.” As its name would suggest, Jack is equipped to get into
anything and everything right along with you. Made of rigid duck canvas
and planted with four large patch pockets across the front, it should
keep up nicely. We’ve modernized the boxy fit of vintage chore coats for
something more tailored, but Jack is unlined, so it is roomy enough to
be worn over a sweater. Packability, durability, versatility; pass it
along to the next generation because this design would suggest that Matt
might be, in fact, the master of one.
Sizing:
Jack runs true to size. Order as you normally would.

can't wait 6 weeks...
By no stretch of the imagination do I consider these shoes "new" or even "exclusive". By now you're probably sick of me bloggin' about these joints (7 posts...wait make that 8). The real deal (Holyfield) is that people don't like to wait for shoes. Trust me...you don't know how excruciating the wait was for these Navy Vibram Sole Trail Oxfords. A complete nightmare to say the least, but that's what I'm here for. To help ease any pain/hesitation you may have from ordering these shoes and waiting 6 weeks. Well let me be the first to tell you...there's NO NEED to wait! The great people over at Wharf got you covered and these beauties can be delivered to you in no time.
Let me just tell you, being in Houston, these shoes have been a great winter shoe for the "cold" weather we experience here. The Navy Horween Chromexcel leather is a thing of beauty and only gets better with age. The leather is super supple, yet very sturdy. I mean when was the last time you could recall wearing a leather shoe without socks all day without experiencing and discomfort or even worse blistering...how about NEVER. I definitely adore these shoes and can't believe how smoothly they'll transition into my Spring/Summer wardrobe. Right now I'm loving the fact that I can throw on some camp socks with these, but by early March here in Houston I'll be going sock-less. Almost forgot to mention how nicely the Vibram Sole complements the Navy Chromexcel Leather. It gives the shoe that added pop that sets the shoe apart from all the other winter shoes that you've seen on the streets. It doesn't hurt to be just a little different at times. Right?
Sizing: In my opinion I opted to go a half size down because I wanted them to be comfortable sock-less and still be able to wear them with thicker (camp) socks. Most people say they fit true to size, which may cause some confusion, so that's why I stated "in my opinion."
So if you can't wait the 6 weeks for these joints I suggest you check out Wharf and while you're at peep the rest of the goods they have, I can promise you you'll be adding more than one thing to your shopping cart! Till next time.
Buy these now at Wharf for $236.
Happy Shopping,
AFS

the unbelievable power of STYLEFORUM...
This is why Leather Soul is so LEGIT...
1+1 = 2...2+2 = 4. Simple right?
Almost as simple as the key to being a successful business. Listen attentively to your clientele/customers. This is exactly what the guys over at Leather Soul did...they listened and then "BOOM" "POW" "BAM"...they DELIVERED. Harry Potter has nothing on these dudes.
To make a long story short, it all started this morning when this Styleforum Noob "alanjav" decided to irresponsibly post a pair of Alden's he received from The Bureau on The Alden thread supported by Leather Soul. (Wait a sec...that name looks rather familiar). Unbeknown to him the buzz that would later ensue from his post and just like that styleforum readers began to brainstorm and elicit questions in regards to if a particular shoe could be made. Tom over at Leather Soul listened attentively and just like that a Special Pre-Order for #8 Shortwing with Antique Edgetrim was born. I'm sorry but this story was way too gnarly not to blog about.
If you've been living under a rock for quite some time I suggest you check out Leather Soul and their beautiful line-up of men's shoes ranging from Lobb's to Aldens specifically made for their store.

Preview | TAKE ÅRHUS LEAGUE
a mash up up of epic proportions...
A simply captivating editorial spread that will be relevant when the
kids of today are fully grown...unless the world ends in 2012...[insert
bad joke here].
Summer's not even here and things are already heating up..."BOOM-SHAK-A-LAKA!" Alright...now that I've got that out of my system its time to start talkin' shop. February looks to jump off with Copenhagen's Fashion Week which will showcase the release of Close Up and Private's TAKE ÅRHUS LEAGUE. The editorial is an unbelievable array of imagery brought to you by Close Up and Private and the good folks over at Danish Men's Magazine EUROMAN. The editorial shot at Aarhus University looks to capture real students wearing modern preppy powerhouse brand such as Gant, Gant Rugger, Ralph Lauren, and Tommy Hilfiger just to name a few. These photographs are not depicted in the "CUAP style" we are so use to seeing illustrated in Sviatchenko's art, but instead looks to take on a more classic, timeless approach reminiscent of Take IVY. With the resurgence of classic menswear otherwise known as "The Prep-edemic," it's safe to say this issue is a definite MUST COP. So if you haven't already, mark your calendars for the release of the February issue's of EUROMAN. I know I will!
Sincerely,
AFS
*Additional Information

Nørgaard, WoodWood, Henri Lloyd, Lacoste, and Acne
First Look | Close Up and Private S/S 2011
come closer...come closer...(okay that's close enough)
NOTHING I say can do this imagery/collection justice PERIOD. Having said that allow me to get close up and "personal" with a brand that continues to mash up Art in the form of photographs, paintings, and videos. The on-going project by artist Sergei Sviatchenko continues to capture the spirit of modern style, as seen through the subtle shades of the individual. Through these details a complex discourse between clothing, fashion and image takes shape, offering fresh perspectives on contemporary fashion and identity. A Gentlemens' brand to say the least which in this day and age is simply refreshing to see. By no stretch of the imagination do I consider myself Sartorially Inclined or Unabashedly Prep, but I love each and every image Sergei captures in these photographs, especially the pairing of the overalls with the bow tie. I would have never known an unlikely pairing would compliment each other so beautifully. Close Up and Private's Spring/Summer 2011 Collection is a nice reminder to continue to tighten up my "Grown Man Game." Hats off to the gents over at CUAP for churning out some amazing pieces. I can't wait to see the full line up.
I suggest you check out CUAP's "The Etiquette of a Modern Classicist" which is a great measuring stick to see if you're on the right path to gettin' your grown game "tight" and "right" like the experts. And remember...do your part, be responsible, and spread the word!
