when i die bury me with the 'lo on...
XXL takes a look at Hip-hop’s association with Ralph Lauren which includes several famed ‘Lo heads, like Thirstin Howl III,
Just Blaze, Raekwon and 88 Keys. The article traces the
start of Ralph mania in the hip hop community and just why the brand
still resonates with that crowd today.
In 1967, Bronx-native and son of Jewish immigrants Ralph Lauren
(born Ralph Lifschitz) begins selling neckties he’s designed under the
name “Polo.” With no formal fashion training, he spends the 1970’s
expanding the Polo brand to include women’s and men’s clothes that
emphasize a classic American look marked by upper-class imagery. Polo
goes on to become the flagship brand of a multi-billion dollar fashion
empire by selling a lifestyle that would captivate hip-hop culture in
the coming years.
Head on over to XXL to read the full article.

GRAHAME G. FOWLER | Made In New York
Sartorial but not stuffy...
"A mix of tailored, working, military, function-at-the-junction mélange."

After working with the likes of Yohji Yamamoto, Ralph Lauren and Brioni, and owning stores in the UK and Japan, Grahame Fowler decided to launch his own West Village menswear boutique in August 2009. Formerly occupied by a Chinese dry-cleaning shop, this is by no means any ordinary men's boutique. Fowler's collection of button-down shirts, suits, outerwear, and knitwear are handmade in New York using only the most wonderful fabrics from England, Italy and Japan and tailored with care, achieving a relaxed elegance which neatly balances casual and formal attire. The tenet of the brand seems to be "exclusivity." Amongst the vintage scooters, furniture, and photos, you'll find a collection of finely curated accessories such as, vintage Rolex and Omega Watches, belts, messenger bags made from old quilts or army tents, shoes and hats. My personal favorites in no specific order seem to be the vintage Belstaff and Barbour jackets, Tricker's boots (they have the exclusive in the U.S.), White's boots (made in USA), vintage CWC and Benrus watches, and last but certainly not the least the 1969 Lambretta scooter parked in the corner. If you happen to be visiting New York or live in the city I strongly urge you to stop by. In the great words of my buddy 'Drew this place is "LIFE CHANGING."
Shout out to Max and Chuka for holding it down and making my trip to NYC a memorable one. Diversity is definitely their university due to their impeccable customer service, uncanny product knowledge, generosity and authenticity. The website will be up very soon. Stay tuned after the jump.
With that said...Grahame G. Fowler x _______. Spring 2011?
